Now that you've been using Twitter for several weeks, who do you feel more like, the mom or the kid?
If you used Glogster this week for 3.4 original content, what are your thoughts on this application? What are the classroom uses for this application? Can you see it being used elsewhere, outside the classroom? What are the benefits? Downsides? If you haven't tried it, I would encourage you to do just that - try it.
Some of you tried Animoto this week; what are your thoughts on this application? What is the classroom benefit? Can it be used outside the classroom for any purpose? What are the benefits? Downsides?
What other applications have you used this week? How did the 2nd week of the challenge go for you? Now that you understand the requirements and what is expected of you, how did you better manage your time this week? What other thoughts do you have?
Twitter is a very cool site and apparently very popular in the celebrity world. All over myspace is celebrities asking fans to check out their twitter and follow it. I really like how it ties into your blimp so your friends can see what you are listening too and what your favorite songs are. I think we should try to advertise twitter to more people in our area because I didn't even know that it existed until it was mentioned here in class.
ReplyDeleteAnimoto is kind of cool if you want to make a quick slide show and post it up to Youtube without any problems. It uploads everything in less then 5 minutes and shows things that you can do while waiting. I wish it would have a bigger list of songs though and artist that are actually well known. I did try to upload a song but it gave me a lot of problems so that is something I am going to have to try again next week. Hopefully the music will actually work then.
I really love the reader application offered on google. If you choose to follow all of the staff picks there are some pretty neat things on it like design milk and cuteoverload.
Other then that I haven't really seen any other cool applications. I haven't tried glogster yet but I will make sure to do that today or tomorrow .
Other then that the rubric has been going pretty good. Three and Four I could do without though, they get pretty hard to handle when your last few minutes come around but if you rush and don't do a really really really extremely good job then I think it is possible to get it done within the week deadline.

I am like the son cause i actually had to explain it to my mom. Glogster was fun and simple just took some time. It makes it easier to make posters but you cant have a lot of items in it. it makes it short and simple. I think you could use it almost anywhere. You just have to use your imagination and think outside the box. I managed my time well cause even with that one day that it didn't save I still only had two things left to do. IF i keep that up then i could finish everything on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI am most definitely the son. I am frequently confronted by people who think Twitter is actually pointless, and while I am disinclined to fully agree with them, I can see how they'd believe that it was just a waste of time. While that is its primary use, that's why it's so popular. Also, it truly can be a lifesaver in a last-minute situation.
ReplyDeleteI think the challenge went better for me the second week. I also think calling it a "challenge" is helping things along, because I can NEVER BACK DOWN TO A CHALLENGE!
While the first week was pretty boring, this one went a little better, for reasons not entirely known to me. Perhaps the material was just better this week. More things have happened.
Perhaps I'm just getting more used to the way things are done here.

Well last week I was in Boston so this week really does not pertain to me. Also I have already commented on Animoto in last weeks reflection. But other than that I have not talked about Twitter, which is pretty much amazing!! I really do feel like the kid in that comic, which makes a lot more sense when I ACTUALLY read it haha. But yeah Twitter is a great program that we have been introduced, and a program that is growing in population. Ever since we started using Twitter in this class, I have heard about Twitter nonstop! I see it everywhere, like it is hugely popular with celebrities as I see everywhere celebrities are asking fans to follow them on Twitter. Now I am glad to say iTunes has released an application for Twitter for the iPhone/iPod touch and it is really cool, so pretty much wherever I have WiFi I can access my Twitter account outside of school :)
ReplyDeleteWell I had a great week in Boston and can't wait to go back tonight!!!!!
I think that at first Twitter was kind of weird and hard to use but after using it for like 10 minutes I got the hang of it and it is very easy to use after you use it the first time. But I missed out on last weeks activities so I don't have much to say. I did make an animoto video, it was easy, but the video can only be 30 seconds long so I wasn't able to fit a lot of things into my video. But my video was still pretty cool and I like animoto so I will probably do another one. But that is all i got for this week, hopefully i will have more next week.
ReplyDeleteI don't particularly like Twitter because none of my friends are on it and I don't like being limited in my word count. I like having the ability to express myself however long and lengthy it may be. The idea of microblogging fits perfectly with our society of quick, quick, and immediate. I personal would like to see something of more substance posted, but that is nearly impossible to do when you are limited to 140 characters. I understand the purpose of Twitter, but probably won't use it once I am out of this class. Because I understand it I feel like the kid, but I can empathize with the mom because it is pretty confusing.
ReplyDeleteI will try using those applications this week after I have completed my work. I tried using Splashup, but that was a bust because the program has gliches in it that make it frustrating to try and edit a picture. I liked handling a camera because I have always enjoyed taking pictures. I wouldn't recommend Splashup right now, but I might go back and try it later.
It is easier to complete the rubric because I understand what is expected and I can organize my time so that I get everything done. Although I don't like the rubric I have learned some things from it.
I think that Twitter is a fun, easy way of blogging that doesn't require much work. I feel that I know it well enough so that I can call myself the child, rather than the clueless adult. The only things that are bad about it is that you are limited on what you can say, and not many of the people that i know are on it, which doesn't make it very social for me.
ReplyDeleteI used animoto this week, and I found it to be a very fun, easy, and exciting thing. I like how you are able to just import the photos that you want to use and the site will just make the slideshow for you automatically. I think I like this because it doesn't require much work, and I'm not too fond of work.
The second week challenge went well for me. I was able to complete just about everything on the rubric that was required. I can't say that I particularly like it, but I don't really mind doing it.
I think that Twitter is the EASIEST way to blog out there because you don't have to go into huge detail. I feel more like the kid because i could really explain it too. The only bad thing is if you say something you might not be able to explain it so people might take offense to it.
ReplyDeleteI used Animoto this week like Johnny and made a Timmy Montage of south park. I like this because you make a really kick butt video and all it requires is for you to put a couple photos in.
I didn't do my weekly challenges on on time so now Im doing it on April 6.
